I haven’t quite finished upgrading the forum theme yet, so for most of the day it is going to look a little ugly. Topics look pretty good though, don’t you think?
Upgrading Forum Theme
dSoc v3 Launched
Yay! Five days of nonstop tinkering and we finally have lift-off. There’s lots of new stuff to see and do, so please check it all out and have fun with it all.
One of the more exciting new features is the ability to have your own blog. This means that you can control what you post, what you upload, how you display it, etc… Blogs are much different than forum posts, as they use HTML instead of your usual bbCodes. The idea behind having your own blog is so that you can talk about your car, modifications, experiences, whatever you’d like, and do so in your own space and have total control over the comments people leave, or if they can even leave any at all. Think of it like a guestbook on steroids.
One unfortunate drawback of this migration is that all of the links to previous dSoc information have changed. The information still exists, but I’ve had to rearrange somethings in the move. I’m going to do my best to make sure all the external search engines and wiki’s get updates as quickly as possible, but you’re going to need to edit your signatures and links on other forums and websites. I know it sucks, but it was totally unavoidable.
Lastly, and much more obviously, this upgrade brings with it a social network. It allows you to make groups, friends, send and receive private messages, and have a real personal profile about yourself and your car. There’s more updates in the works, like a legit photo album, status updates, garage, and more.
I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone that’s joined and is following along. This is a web programming adventure and experiment for me, just as much as it is an investment in time and patience for you, and I appreciate your efforts very much.
